Arrange Files And Sub Folders In Folders

Have you ever spent time arranging Files in a Folder just to your liking but when you reopened it they were back in the order they were before you started?

TIP:  By default Folders and Files are arranged by keyboard characters, numbers and then alphabetical characters. However you cannot use these keyboard characters \  / : * ? < > | for this purpose.

All you have to do is rename your Files or Sub Folders using this order. I find that if I am working on a particular file or folder to just rename that folder using a Tilde ~ and that brings that file or folder to the top of the list and makes it easy to find.

EXAMPLE

Able                                           ~Mary                              001Edward

Don                                            ! Don                               002 Mary

Edward            becomes             @ Able            or             003 John

John                                            # Edward                        004 Don

Mary                                           $ John                             005 Able

NOTE:  This will not work on System Folders such as My Documents, My Pictures, etc, in XP or Documents, Pictures, etc, in Vista but will work on the sub folders and files you place in them.
