Quick Tip

Use A User Account

TIP:  You may not have thought about this but it is not in your best interest to be logged on to your computer as Administrator.  You should create a new User Account for your daily computing.  The reasoning for this is that malicious programs can not install without Administrators permission and if you are not logged on as Administrator they do not have permission.

You can create the User Account by clicking on Start > Control Panel > User Account > Create a New Account.  Type in a name for the account, click Next, click next to Limited, and then click on Create Account.  After you have created the new User Account go back and set passwords for both the Administrators and User Accounts.

Hints:  If you have to leave your computer and don’t want anyone seeing your work, use your keyboard to lock your computer account.  You can do this easily by pressing the Ctrl + L keys.  When you come back you will have to log on again to see your work.

What if you are logged in the User Account and you want to install a program you have downloaded?  Find the exe. File, right click on it and select Run As.  You will see a window pop up were you can provide the Administrators Id and Password that would give you temporary permission to install the application.
