Quick Tip
040-2008
Have your favorite program open automatically when you boot up.
TIP: Right click on the Start button. On the menu that appears, click Open. The Start Menu Window opens. Look for the folder that says Programs. Click to open it. In the Programs window look for the folder that says Startup. Click to open it. Leave it open.
Go back to Start > All Programs. Now highlight the program you want to open automatically when the computer boots up. Right Click, Hold and Drag the icon to the Startup folder that is open. A message will appear asking you if you want to move or copy. Click on copy. A shortcut will now appear in the Startup folder. Close all folders and reboot the computer. It will start up and your favorite program will open, ready for use.
If you later decided you no longer want this program to run on boot up, go back to the Programs folder and delete the shortcut.
NOTE: If you want the program to open, but in a minimized state, go to the shortcut icon in the Programs folder, right click, and select properties. When the properties window opens click on the Shortcuts tab. Go down to Run and use the dropdown menu, select minimized. Now when you boot up your program will open but in a minimized state in the taskbar.
