Microsoft "Officexp Inside
Out" Book Review
By
John Calhoun
This
book is even bigger than the FrontPage 2002 book: 1,536 pages! It covers all the programs in the Officexp
Suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook,
Frontpage, Access, and Publisher. When
purchased separately, these programs use the tag “Version 2002” rather than the
“xp” tag.
This
book covers the most used features of each of the programs listed above. For more extensive features for power users,
each program has its own separate version of the “Inside Out” book series.
The
authors typically explain a generic procedure, and then will go into more
detail to explain various other ways to do similar things. Sidebars and Troubleshooting dialog boxes
explain in more detail how to use the more advanced features of the programs
and how to solve problems. There is even
a Troubleshooting Index in the back of the book to find help for specific
problems.
There
are many, many screen shots, with explanations and details showing the use of
the buttons and icons. This helps a lot
in understanding how to better use the programs. This book, similar to the FrontPage 2002
Inside Out book, also includes an e-Book version on CD-ROM, plus demos, trial software, third-party
utilities, and Microsoft add-ins, using an HTML interface. There is also some sample code and macros, as
well as other files and templates, and even some bonus content not included in
the book.
