November 25, 2008

www.cscclub.org

Greetings Computer Club Members:

I apologize for skipping a Bulletin last week, due to some Computer and Printer issues I have been experiencing, which took up way too much of my time, at what was a busy week anyway and we were visiting family over the weekend.

I will be out of town from November 30 to December 7, 2008, and will not be publishing and sending a Bulletin until after I return. Please keep the dates I will be posting and remember to check the Club Website at www.cscclub.org.

Ed O’Donnell does a wonderful job of posting the important dates you will need to check for.

SITE OF THE WEEK

Anne Wright

Ham Radio Operators

Anne has been a Computer Club Member for many years in addition she is a well known Ham Operator, and has been for a long time. She shared some of the events that she has been able to take part in and some of the famous people she has talked to over the years. Her own call letters are on a tower in the mountains above us.

Kelly Perry was the young man who put her call letters on the tower. She presented a video of Capt. Ernie Kapp talking to our own Don Porter from his boat on a trip to Alaska. We were honored to have Capt. Ernie present at our meeting last week, as well as Anne’s Daughter.

Some of the other famous people Anne has communicated with over the years are: Senator Barry Goldwater, and

Dr. George Fishbeck, a local TV weatherman, as well as the space shuttle in 1981 while they were in orbit.

She ended her presentation with a song which was written and composed for her by her nephew Gary Holmes of Lake Elsinore. And a tribute to Ham Radio Operators recorded by another famous TV reporter, Walter Cronkite.

Be looking for a link on our website soon of Anne’s presentation.
