Greetings Computer Club Members:

Thank you, to everyone who attended the meeting Tuesday night, we had a lot of competition for your attention and we appreciate the fact that you chose to attend our meeting.

Steve Holst and his team of Technical advisors will be looking forward to greeting you in the lab every Friday from 1 to 4 pm. In the Joslyn Senior Center Annex 660 N Mountain Ave.

They welcome all of the challenges you bring to them along with whatever goodies you wish to share.

Please follow the guidelines which can be found on the club website.

Everyone is welcome to the workshop, but Claremont Senior Computer Club members always have priority.  Please be sure to sign in with one of our friendly greeters who serve to direct you for service. Remember, membership is free, and you are invited to attend our weekly meetings.

Tutors are available to assist members who need to sharpen their computer skills. 

 

Joy Huguley is available to help in the Music Room if you wish to convert music from a record to a CD or other format

If you are new to the Computer Club, be sure and drop in at the lab on Fridays, Check in with the greeter and she will be happy to give you a tour.

According to the Bylaws established by the CSCC all board meetings are open to the entire membership so this notice will serve to fulfill the rule directed in the Bylaws.

All classes are held in the Bob Binder Classroom of the annex at Joslyn Senior Center 660 N. Mountain Ave. Claremont

October 13th The Open Source Group well be meeting at 4pm If your curiosity is aroused at tonight’s meeting about other operating systems that are available, this is the Special Interest Group for you.

Genealogy Group

October 20th The Genealogy Group will be meeting at 3PM

All groups meet in the Bob Binder Classroom at the Joslyn Senior Center Annex unless otherwise announced

If you don’t know where to start looking for your ancestors, this is where you want to start looking, Walter is a great asset to our club.

 

Our club formed the Special Interest Groups last spring at the request of our members who wanted to learn more about certain subjects. Everyone who has an interest in these subjects is welcome to attend any of these meetings. No experience or expertise is needed; this is where you can learn more about a subject you may be curious about.

You don’t want to be left out of the drawing next week and a chance at being the winner, purchase your ticket when you arrive at the meeting and check in at the front desk. Look for Pat Jones who will be selling the tickets in the Padua Room.

The winner must be present to collect.

Be sure to sign in each time you attend. If you have not attended at least three meetings per quarter your name may be removed from our roster.

If for some reason you find you will be absent for awhile, please let the ladies at the front sign-in desk know, and we will keep you on the roster.

Open Source Software

Tom and his assistants Lloyd Gastineau, Harland Anderson and Duke Leong demonstrated how to download install and use some of the alternative Open Source programs that are available for free. If you wish to know more about these programs be sure and attend the Open Source SIG meeting on Monday October 13th at 4pm in the annex at Joslyn Senior Center 660 N. Mountain Ave. Claremont

Tom’s PowerPoint presentation which was originally presented almost one year ago can be found on the Club Website under Presentations scroll to Ubuntu and you can view it.

The hit of the night was the truly portable notebook Tom demonstrated called an ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf (7-Inch Display, Intel Mobile Processor, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB Hard Drive

I am sure we will see more of this laptop.
